On September 2, Ningbo Zhoushan Port launched the "Truck Driver Return Reservation Function" on the Yigangtong Driver App, which filled in the last piece of the puzzle for the digitalization of the entire process of booking for container pickup and delivery.

It is reported that the business of picking up and loading containers is the most common operation link in the transportation work of truck drivers. However, in previous operations, there were problems such as difficulty in picking up containers, high logistics costs, and fragmented logistics information. Truck drivers are the key role in connecting various logistics nodes. How to let truck drivers enjoy more intelligent and humane services is an important issue to ensure smooth logistics.
Empty container return operation is one of the individual items in the business of picking up and loading containers. Since the beginning of this year, the Yigangtong R&D team has successfully developed and launched the "empty return appointment" function based on mature import and paperless business data.
Under the new model, truck drivers do not need to rely on paper equipment to return containers. They only need to enter the container number in the Yigangtong driver app in advance to make an appointment, and go to the yard during the appointment period to quickly verify the gate. The whole process is convenient and time-controllable, which greatly improves the efficiency of returning containers.
"In the past, foreign trade empty containers needed to be queued in advance. Now, just like picking up empty containers, I can make an appointment on the Yigangtong App and come back later. It is much more convenient!" said Mr. Wang, a truck driver.
The unification of the full-process appointment operation of the truck driver's entry and pickup business not only incorporates the entry and pickup business into the scope of digital and standardized management, but also realizes the linkage between the "empty return appointment" function and the "entry appointment" function of Ningbo Beilun Logistics Park, which improves the efficiency of the park's truck operation entry and exit management, reduces the chaos and congestion at the operation site, and further enhances the collection and distribution capacity of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Beilun Port.
It is understood that in December 2017, Ningbo Municipal Transportation Bureau and Ningbo Zhoushan Port jointly launched the paperless container import and export project, committed to building a more efficient and convenient new port and shipping logistics chain ecosystem. Focusing on the development idea of"letting data run and letting drivers run less", the Yigangtong R&D team closely follows the pace of paperless development and continues to explore and promote the single window and paperless application of documents.
In April 2018, Ningbo Zhoushan Port took the lead in realizing the paperless delivery of imported container equipment. In April 2019, Ningbo Zhoushan Port launched the paperless service function for container export business, becoming the first port in the country to realize paperless operation of container import and export and visualization of logistics nodes.
Since then, the Yigangtong platform has successively launched online reservation functions for empty pick-up, empty barge, warehouse reservation and other container pick-up services, allowing truck drivers to complete reservation operations through mobile phone apps anytime and anywhere, effectively solving the problem of difficult queuing at the operation site.
